Features

Every method has a reason.

This page explains not just what Lexxington does but why. Every feature rests on a finding from learning research.

Lessons

By subject and semester

Material follows your degree: civil, criminal and public law, each by semester. Three dots show exam relevance, the green-to-red bar shows difficulty.

Why it works: Visible priorities steer limited study time to where it pays off most.

Flashcards

Swipe and spaced repetition

Right: know it. Left: again. Cards you know return at growing intervals; cards you miss come back soon.

Why it works: Spacing consolidates knowledge far better than massing (Cepeda et al. 2006).

Quick 10

Ten questions, every day

One tap, ten mixed questions from what is due. Under five minutes.

Why it works: Small daily sessions lower the barrier to start and use the spacing effect.

Lexxi method

Split screen, shifting positions

Norm and question sit side by side; which side appears where changes randomly.

Why it works: Varying conditions are a “desirable difficulty”: learning feels harder but lasts longer (Bjork 1994).

Speed round

60 seconds or three lives

True or false, as fast as you can. Streaks build combos.

Why it works: Fast retrieval automates the basics and frees your mind for solving the case.

Paragraph dating

Question meets norm

Does the norm fit the question? Swipe for a match or move on.

Why it works: Finding the right legal basis is the first step in every exam. Here you train it on its own.

Schema ordering

Put the steps in order

Drag the steps into the right order.

Why it works: Producing the structure yourself beats reading it (generation effect).

Cloze

Fill in the words that matter

Definitions and statute text with gaps at the key terms.

Why it works: Targeted retrieval of exactly the terms that earn points.

Challenge yourself

Multiple true statements, free text

Multi-select questions where several statements can be true, and free-text answers. First you rate your confidence.

Why it works: Free recall is harder than recognition and works better. Confident errors get corrected especially well after feedback (Butterfield & Metcalfe 2001).

Case trainer

About 800 illustrated cases

Short fact patterns with an image, swiped true or false. Each with solution and norm.

Why it works: Image and text form two memory traces instead of one. And cases are mixed, like the exam (Rohrer & Taylor 2007).

Exams and grade calculator

0 to 18 points, 70/30 rule

Exam simulation with timer and grading on the 0–18 scale. The calculator combines state exam and specialisation 70:30 under § 5d DRiG.

Why it works: Practising under exam conditions transfers better to the real exam.

Statutes, notes, Lexxi

26 federal statutes offline

Download the statutes and read without a connection. Under every norm: “test your knowledge”. Notes work everywhere. “Ask Lexxi” is everywhere too: the owl explains, gives examples and asks back.

Why it works: Learning at the norm links knowledge to the tool you use in the exam.
